While we’re on the topic of convention center sites, Cheryl sends us info on retailers who are currently performing construction buildout of their retail spaces at the Washington Convention Center:
It seems like every one of these retailers is local to the DC area!

There is no indication of where the retailers will be located in the building. We’ll try to hunt down a map..
I live in Mount Vernon Square and from what I’ve seen from the outside of the convention center, the sushi place, the brew pub, the goldsmith, and the bakery are all on the 9th St. retail side, north of M st. the spa is on the N st side. Also there is a EuroMarket cafe going in at 7th St. and L St.
These projects have been languishing for a few years. I walk by these sites daily and will only rarely see a hint of new activity or construction. The once brightly colored liqour license notices in the window have completely faded in the sun. The jeweler is about to open, but I can’t see the brewery/sushi place opening for another year minimum. No way, there is far too much dysfunction and too little motivation.

Does anyone know what street these establishments are going to open on? 7th, 9th? I hope the bakery is good.
