Old Convention Center Parking Lot To Be Occupied By Cirque du Soleil!
Between October 2nd and December 11th, the old convention center parking lot (now dubbed “Center City Parking Lot” at 9th and H St NW) will become the site of the Cirque du Soleil! Only 200 parking spaces will remain at the site, so we wouldn’t be surprised if area garages become loaded more than usual.
Here is the Performance Area Construction Schedule:
- October 2 to 5 – Site Marking: Marking of tent locations, installation of tent poles and fencing around the site.
October 6 to 12 – Site Construction: Installation of asphalt ramps and curbs; removal of lamp poles, shrubs, etc.
October 18 to 25 – Logistical and Technical: Set-up of infrastructure, “Big Top” tent and equipment.
October 26 – Corteo, which means “cortege” in Italian, opens.
November 26 to December 4 – Tear Down of the Show
December 4 to 11 – Restoration of Center City Parking Lot

Any idea if the tent is going to be on the small side (near 11th St) or the large side (near 9th St) of the lot?
According to the announcement: The portion of the lot reserved for Cirque is bounded by 9th Street, H Street, the Art Walk (formerly 10th Street), and New York Avenue.
The temporary parking lot entrance will be located on 11th Street between H Street and New York Avenue, NW.
