New Hotel At 7th And H St NW Will Be A Pod Hotel (627 H St NW)
Photo (above): Construction site on May 31, 2015
We now know which hotel nameplate will adorn the building between the Panera Bread and the Vapiano at 627 H Street NW, close to the 7th Street intersection. The new building will be branded as a Pod Hotel of which there are currently two in New York City. We’ve stayed at The Pod Hotel (51) in New York City and definitely enjoyed the shared communal spaces and affordable rates so we expect the same here in Washington DC. We first told reported on this project in June/July of last year.
A few stats are in order from the available press:
- 245 rooms on 11 floors
- rooms will be 150 square feet also known as “micro-units”
- pricing will be 20% to 25% less than market rate for standard hotel rooms
- project sized at $60 million
- no parking
- two level restaurant area
- free Capital Bikeshare is made available for guests who stay at the hotel
- planned opening is late summer/early fall of 2016
The rendering below of the finished building is also available at The Pod Hotel website:
Congratulations RAMMY Winners
We had a great time celebrating DC’s best in the food and beverage industry Sunday night at the convention center for the annual RAMMY Awards. Some PQ neighbors were winners, including:
Victor Albisu, Del Campo (777 I St., NW) – Chef of the Year
Jose Andres and Rob Wilder, ThinkFoodGroup – Restaurateur of the Year
Maria and Fabio Trabocchi, Fiola, Fiola Mare, Casa Luca – Best New Restaurant, Fiola Mare
The event had just the right amount of splash – from Mayor Bowser’s opening remarks about DC’s thriving dining industry as a major contributor to our strong economy, to the multiple media personalities presenting awards to inventive decor from Design Foundry, and DJ Neekola keeping the dance floor packed all night!
Thank you to Linda Roth PR for inviting us to the event!
