Arin Liberman, Producer of the AFI Docs FestivalArin will tell us about the AFI Docs Festival, which for the second year will include a series of screenings in Penn Quarter. As part of her presentation, she will preview some of the documentaries that will be shown at three Penn Quarter member venues: the Navy Memorial Heritage Center, Goethe-Institut, and the National Portrait Gallery.

Downtown Pool And Cabanas Open For Summer At Liaison Capitol Hill

A number of condos and apartments in downtown DC have rooftop pools but for those who don’t, the Liaison Capitol Hill Hotel (415 New Jersey Ave NW) let us know that they are opening their rooftop pool, cabanas, and bar today. For $25 patrons can gain access to the rooftop set up for the day starting at 11 am with access being free after 5 pm. This is a great alternative to DC’s outdoor public pools opening tomorrow.
If you haven’t visited the Liaison’s rooftop recently, you’re in for a real treat. We were there last year and it truly is an urban oasis.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 5, 2014) — After a brutal winter marked with single-digit temperatures, it is finally time to kick off pool season in Washington. The Liaison Capitol Hill, an Affinia Hotel announced today its open-air rooftop pool and bar will open on Friday, May 23, giving locals the perfect destination to unwind. The 7,000 square foot Rooftop Pool and Bar at the Liaison is the largest in the city and is the only open-air rooftop bar on Capitol Hill.
In a city known for politics and gridlock, the Rooftop Pool and Bar at The Liaison is the perfect urban retreat and will open daily to locals from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. We invite you to take a dip in the 50 foot pool, enjoy light fare, sip a signature handcrafted cocktail, relax in a poolside cabana or treat yourself to a massage. Be sure to check out a massive (over 70 works) new exhibit that just opened at the NGA (6th and Constitution, NW) of the works of American painter, Mary Cassatt, and French painter, Edgar Degas, which explores the influence of their friendship and collaboration on one another’s work.
