It Won’t Be Long Now
Workers have been putting the finishing touches on the Penn Quarter Shake Shack (800 F ST NW) for the last few weeks and today they look pretty darn close to opening. While we couldn’t get a firm date from the workers, both the interior and exterior look just about ready to go.
Sure it was just a few months ago we were extolling the virtues of the Ollie Burger, but that doesn’t quell our excitement to have Shake Shake open up their PQ location. Both because we love a good burger (and more burger options), but also because we love a vibrant Penn Quarter.
Free Classical Recital On June 23 At UCC DC Church (945 G St NW)
The First Congregational United Church of Christ edifice at 9th and G St NW (945 G St NW) plays host to a number of concerts throughout the year. By e-mail, we learned of a free concert (donations graciously accepted) on June 23 at 3 pm as follows:
The Washington DC area offers many options for entertainment and it is a truly delightful occasion when one can be moved by a gifted operatic voice. That’s why I thought you might be interested in hearing the vibrant vocal quality of one of the city’s most engaging sopranos, Shari Wright.
Ms. Wright is a classically trained performer who has performed in ensembles, operas, and operatic scenes at the Kennedy Center, the American University, the Lisner Auditorium, and the Duke Ellington Theater.
Ms. Wright will be giving a free classical recital at the First Congregational United Church of Christ on Sunday, June 23rd at 3:00 PM. She will be performing a mix of Art Songs, Arias, Classical Ballads and Spirituals in French, German, Italian, and English.
Sounds like a nice way to spend some time on Sunday afternoon – the flyer can be found here.
