Hen Quarter (750 E St NW), a Southern fare restaurant, closed over the holiday break and the Penn Quarter location has been removed from the website. This location was the Austin Grill for many years when it reopened as Hen Quarter of May of 2017. We called the still operational Alexandria restaurant and confirmed that the DC restaurant is now closed.

Interfaith Prayer Service With Mayor Bowser At Mt. Vernon Place UMC On Jan 2, 2019
An interfaith prayer service with Mayor Muriel Bowser will be hosted at the Mount Vernon Place United Methodist Church (MVPUMC) (900 Massachusetts Ave NW) on Wednesday, January 2, 2019. The service begins at 8 am and runs for approximately one hour so that the swearing in ceremonies for various DC government officials can begin at 9:30 am next door at the Convention Center. This is part of the DC Proud 2019 events taking place around the new year and the beginning of Mayor Bowser’s reelected term.
The church is located at the corner of 9th and Massachusetts with entrances facing both Mount Vernon Square and Massachusetts Ave NW.
Kraken Axes Now Open In Penn Quarter (840 E St NW)
Kraken Axes (840 E St NW) is now open in the former Penn Camera space on E Street NW. (Thanks goes out to an eagle eyed tipster!) Inside you’ll find multiple axe throwing lanes where you can test your hatchet throwing skills. You can find them on Facebook here and a quote from the website describes them thusly, “This trend is picking up steam and replacing your bowling and darts leagues with something different. From your guys’ night out to the perfect activity for your bestie’s bachelorette, axe throwing is something ANYONE can do and EVERYONE should try!”
CVS At 11th and I St NW Now Open! (1101 New York Ave NW)
The CVS at 11th and I Streets NW is now open with an address of 1101 New York Ave. It sits catty-corner to the City Center park where the fountains and the big Christmas tree can be found.
