Little Sesame Hummus Shop Coming To Penn Quarter (736 6th St NW)
Little Sesame, a hummus shop, will be coming to 736 6th Street and we couldn’t be happier. We’ve patronized the location in the Golden Triangle just west of Connecticut Ave and found the quality and taste to be delicious. It really can be a meal! DC Eater has more detailed information on the Penn Quarter/Chinatown location. This new fast casual restaurant replaces the short lived Pidzza that opened in March of 2017.
Capital One Arena Finally Has A Digital Marquee
One of our major pet peeves with the Capital One Arena (formerly the Verizon Center and the MCI Center) was that it didn’t have marquee style signage. You walked by and there was no way to tell what event was happening unless you wanted to guess based on how everyone outside was dressed. For Caps and Wizards games that’s not a problem but for concerts you get into a game of guess the artist based on the crowd.
Finally, there is now a digital marquee above the main entrance so it’s clear what is going on inside. This is great for a number of reasons. Attendees have no doubt where to enter and what event is taking place. And, it’s also great for selfie photos when an attendee wants to show off their being at the event they paid all that money to see. Now all the Capital One Arena needs to do is display the same signage on the main digital signboards on the corner of 7th and F St and along 7th Street during the event too. That would be an additional improvement.
Downtown Holiday Market Now Open Until Sun, Dec 23 (700/800 Block F St NW)
The 2018 Downtown Holiday Market is up and running in the 700 and 800 blocks of F St NW. We went buy to survey the vendors and saw a few familiar names…Blue Ridge Cutting Board Company, Washington Watercolors, and Tom Rall (the map guy). Food and music are also available. The market runs daily from Friday, November 23 to Sunday, December 23 from Noon to 8 pm.
Scotts Restaurant And Bar Now Open In Penn Quarter (927 F St NW)
Scotts Restaurant and Bar, an English themed restaurant, is now open for lunch and dinner service in Penn Quarter at 927 F St NW. The restaurant completely revamped the former CoCo Sala space turning it into a three room restaurant with a clubby feel. We previewed the space earlier this week and enjoyed the decor.
The concise menu offers a basic starter set of choices. The restaurant layout is comprised of three rooms decorated conservatively. One room has the bar and booths, one room has booths and table seating, and the coziest last room is for the whiskey club featuring more casual seating in arm chairs and love seats. Eater DC posts photos and additional details about the menu.
