Does PQ Love Crepes?
Several weeks ago (we really should have posted sooner) we were picking up wine at the Local Vine Cellar and talking to the owner when he asked if we had tried the new crepe place that had taken over the U-Scream Ice Cream shop next door. It was news to us and we love crepes, so we figured we’d give it a try soon. Well, cold and flu season did a number on us and we still haven’t gotten around to try the place out, but by all accounts it is very good.
Mon Amour Crepes & Ice Cream at 1001 Penn Ave (on 11th between Penn & E) is open only for lunch right now (February hours are 11am to 4pm) and serves a variety of sweet & savory crepes. As the name implies they also still sell ice cream, although we need it to get a little bit warmer before that will appeal. Mon Amour Crepes & Ice Cream joins another recent crepe addition to Penn Quarter, Point Chaud opened in late 2012, also on 11th Street, but farther north near NY Ave.
Have any of our readers done a taste test of these two new(ish) crepe shops in Penn Quarter?
Capitol Crossing Development Presenting At Next PQNA Meeting (Tue, Feb 26)
The Penn Quarter Neighborhood Association e-mailed us to let us know about their next meeting next Tuesday. As always, the meeting promises an update on an interesting topic with the VP of Development for Property Group Partners presenting on Capitol Crossing, the mixed-use development that will reconnect F and G Streets NW across I-395 at the eastern edge of Penn Quarter. Think of it as a 2.2 million square foot extension to the neighborhood that sits on top of the currently open freeway from E St NW to the Massachusetts Ave/I-395 ramps (map). It will be huge!
Details on the meeting and how to RSVP follow:

Women in Leadership
Daikaya’s amazing facade captured on my way to Sixth & I last night
Last night, I attended a talk at Sixth & I (600 I St., NW) and was reminded once again about the great programming they provide. There are two talks coming up in the next month that I am particularly interested in hearing because they are sure to provide incredible insight on being a woman in major leadership roles.
March 14
Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook, will discuss her new book, Lean In: Women, Work and the Will to Lead. If you haven’t seen Sheryl’s TED Talk, check it out now, it is profound.
March 18
Sandra Day O’Connor, first woman to sit on the Supreme Court, will discuss her book Out of Order: Stories from the History of the Supreme Court.
