You will be able to meet top employers, perfect your 30-second elevator pitch on the spot, take in mentoring sessions, pump up your resume, practice your interviewing skills and get valuable career advice from Women For Hire CEO Tory Johnson. The Early Morning Seminar provides the latest tips on the job scene and – for women thinking about the world of entrepreneurship – delves into what it takes to start your own business.

Here’s what we were reading recently about neighborhood news in DC. Have something to add? Leave it in the comments!
Penn Quarter – Tom Sietsema writes his official review of Fiola (601 Penn Ave NW – entrance on Indiana Ave) and gives it three out of four stars – an excellent rating. There is much to enjoy about this restaurant. Our favorite visit is to get one of the elevated booths and order bambolini with a glass of port wine to nightcap an evening. A little known secret is that a few of Trabocchi’s recipes can be found online. [WaPo] & [Fiola – Recipes Homepage]
Downtown – Fritz Hahn (of Going Out Guide fame) and Sietsema also weighs in on The Hamilton at 14th and F St NW (600 14th St NW) in the old Garfinckel’s building/Border’s bookstore space. The best we can say at this point is that the sushi and the performance venue downstairs are fantastic. The rest seems to be like Clyde’s, only bigger. [WaPo]
Mount Vernon Triangle – Sixth Engine (438 Mass Ave NW) gets a brunch review. We’ve enjoyed the nightlife but haven’t tried brunch…yet. [The Triangle]
U Street – Wale, hometown rapper done well, will visit the newly renovated Howard Theatre on April 9. [Washington City Paper]
Penn Quarter – A fun exhibit on the art of video games shows up at the American Art Museum. You’ll have plenty of time to visit as it runs until September 30, 2012. [Gamezone] & [American Art Museum]
Penn Quarter – The circus is in town at the Verizon Center and we had the annual Pachyderm Parade through the streets of DC. The inevitable PETA protests occurred also. [DCist (parade)] & [NBC Washington (protest)]
Penn Quarter – The Huffiington Post catches up to the same Leica store story (F Street NW) we ran two weeks ago. [Huffington Post]
All Over DC – Beware the red top parking meters! Pay attention or you will receive an expensive downtown surprise. [DCist]
A Peek Inside Wagamama (418 7th St NW)
Last year, we reported on Wagamama’s new stated opening date: early 2012. Well, as you can see by the following photo, work doesn’t appear to have even begun on the space. We snapped this photo as a couple of workers appeared to be doing something in the space, but nothing major. Some building supplies litter the floor with a couple of shop lights illuminating the bare interior.
But, you may not have even needed a peek inside the space as the facade is accumulating more graffiti, indicating that there is little interest in caring for the space.
