DC Passes Sorsum Corda Project To Toll Brothers For $60M
Sursum Corda, a public housing project opened in 1968, features both townhouses and apartment buildings and lies between K and L Streets from south to north and North Capitol and 1st Streets NW west to east. As development pushes eastward towards the NoMa neighborhood this is a large parcel that remained lagging behind in years. It’s been a focus of redevelopment for years as it lies in a valuable location. The DC government focused its improvement efforts on the area with added MPD law enforcement and a plan for redevelopment after the 2004 killing of a 14 year old girl, Princess Hansen, in the area.
This Washington Business Journal article captures all the details about the sale of the development to Toll Brothers for $60 million which will lead to a full redevelopment of this area near Penn Quarter.

Thanks goes out to a regular PQ Living reader for sending us a ‘coming soon’ photo of Arosto (Fire Roasted) Pizza (705 7th St NW) that plans to open in the old Sushi-Go-Round space that closed some time ago. This entrance depicted above is inside the Gallery Place Mall next to the Haagen Dazs entrance.
Arosto appears to be an expansion of a location in Dunn Loring and the menu can be found here.
We will certainly enjoy more pizza options when they arrive!
Chinatown Circa Opens For Dinner Service Today At 4 pm (781 7th St NW)
We said farewell to Zengo and can now say hello to Circa (781 7th St NW) which opens for dinner today at 4 pm at the corner of 7th and H St NW. We learned of this by email from the Penn Quarter Neighborhood Association as below. Eater DC has a few photos and a quick review online previewing the space:
Circa at Chinatown took over and redid the two-level space formerly occupied by Zengo. Upstairs is the primary dining room, a glass-enclosed private dining space, and their Dragon Bar, which is offering a special cocktail menu in addition to the food menu of classic Circa dishes and Asian-inspired fare. On the entry level, is the second bar and lounge area.
