Clyde’s On The Walk Gone For Certain?
If you follow Clyde’s restaurant around the corner into the G Street alley (otherwise known as the walkway to the entrance of the Gallery Place mall), you’ll find Clyde’s On The Walk. It is the arm of Clyde’s restaurant that operates mostly during lunch hours and serves prepared foods. Every year (usually in the summer), Clyde’s On The Walk adjusts its hours – usually reducing them. In the past, it has been explained that the reduction in hours was only due to seasonal demand, and the restaurant has reverted back to extended hours in the fall.
We noticed that Clyde’s On The Walk had a different kind of notice posted on its windows. The notice said “Clyde’s On The Walk will be closing Friday, October 9th, at 2pm.” A few weeks later, we snapped a pic of the construction scene behind a couple of the windows that weren’t covered up. We also got wind of scheduled construction that is occurring in the space today.
One could only hope that Clyde’s is just renovating the space to emerge as an improved Clyde’s On The Walk in the future. But, we can’t help but wonder if the space will turn into an extended dining space for the main restaurant.
Do Not Pass Go, Do Not Collect $200
While we’re probably not the first place you heard the news, several sites are reporting that Nick Cho (now associated with Chinatown Coffee Co.) has been arrested. The charges apparently stem from tax issues at Murky Coffee, which was a coffee shop on Capitol Hill. You can get a lot more info from the sites linked to in this post.
We haven’t visited Chinatown Coffee, although we do walk by it all the time on our way to the grocery store. It looks like a fun location, but we know the association with Cho has soured many of our readers on this spot. Have any of you softened your stance and checked out Chinatown Coffee?
Photo Of The Week: Orange Glow
A big PQL thanks goes out to a reader for submitting a pre-rush hour image of the intersection at 7th and D Streets NW using High Dynamic Ranging (HDR). The spooky glow also reminds us that Halloween is coming up soon. What are you up to in the PQ for Halloween?
