Obama Transition Team Comes To Downtown DC
WTOP confirmed today that the transition team headquarters for Barack Obama has taken up residence in an office building in our neighborhood in downtown DC (451 6th Street NW). Consider it the kick off of the pre-inauguration process which we’ll be following until January 20, 2009. Thanks to a PQ Living tipster for putting us on watch.

Movie Trailers Spotted Downtown
This is the second time in recent days we’ve seen movie trailers out and about town. The first time? Directly in front of Tryst on 18th Street NW in Adams Morgan the night of November 1. The second time? Earlier this week in the 1300 block of F Street NW near the M+S Grill. We stopped one of the techs to ask him about the movie being shot and his response was that it is a pilot for HBO. Further questions yielded nothing from the tight lipped fellow as he went back to chattering on his two-way radio. No movie logos on the trucks either. The HBO line might have been a throw away as we know Bones was shooting in DC as was (is? will be?) Blonde Charity Mafia and State of Play. Reader comments and tips on what shoot this was are encouraged.
Ed. Note: Added links thanks to Tour guide’s tip that it is HBO’s series The Washingtonienne that is being filmed. Rachael Taylor, Amanda Walsh and Bitsie Tulloch play the leads. In association with Sarah Jessica Parker of Sex and the City, HBO is producing the pilot based on Jessica Cutler’s book about her DC “adventures. “

Everything Old (Will Soon Be) New Again
Every once in a while, you’re in the right place at the right time. That’s the situation we found ourselves in on Sunday afternoon. Walking home from Safeway (490 L ST NW), we caught a sight that you don’t see too often in downtown DC: Two guys, an SUV, some ropes, and a power saw working to bring down the big metal sign at the 6 & K Auto Market.
