Platinum Night Club Reopens Sans Alcohol (915 F St NW)
Platinum night club has been closed since March in response to several violations over the years in addition to a recent shooting related to the club. We recently received word through the PQNA mailing list that Platinum night club (915 F St NW) has reopened, sans alcohol.
Here is the message from the ABRA director:
Maria Delaney, Director of the Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration, has received many questions regarding Platinum nightclub, which re-opened this past Saturday night. She has asked if I would send the residents on my list the following message regarding the status of Platinum. Please feel free to post this message or to forward it to others who may be interested in the status of this club.
Platinum’s ABC license is still under suspension. The establishment can be open for business without alcoholic beverages. The establishment cannot sell, serve, or deliver alcoholic beverages and patrons are prohibited from bringing their own alcoholic beverages into the establishment. I appreciate everyone’s concern and hope this clarifies the current status of this establishment.
DNA & MVSNA Sponsor Homeless Focused Meeting Tomorrow
Tomorrow night at 7 pm at the Calvary Baptist Church (755 8th Street, NW – entrance between G and H Streets), the Downtown Neighborhood Association (DNA) and the Mount Vernon Square Neighborhood Association (MVSNA) are hosting a special joint neighborhood meeting focused on the homeless issues that downtowners (visitors, workers and residents) contend with on a daily basis. Changes are afoot in the DC Government as its Housing First initiative attempts to tackle these issues directly and this joint meeting will allow attendees to hear from both the DC Government as well as heads of various organizations who provide services to DC’s homeless. Attendance is open to all and the meeting will be in Kendall Hall inside the church. Click on More… for more information about this specially focused meeting. Continue Reading >>
Beer Enthusiasts Take Over Downtown DC
We got a text message from a friend Saturday morning which said “I had a GREAT $#!*%#! time last night!”
That sums up our experience as well on Friday night at Savor, which bills itself as “an American Craft Beer & Food Experience.” Savor was held Friday from 6:30 to 10 pm, and then again Saturday in two sessions at 12:30 pm & 6:30 pm. The event was held at the Mellon Auditorium at 13th & Constitution. Continue Reading >>
Nando’s Liquor License Permit Spotted – Restaurant Hours Revealed
In January, we reported that Nando’s Chicken Restaurant would be moving into the neighborhood at 819 7th St NW. A couple of weeks ago, the familiar orange liquor license application appeared on their storefront.
The application reveals what the restaurant hours will be:
Sunday – Thursday: 11am – 10pm
Friday – Saturday: 11am – 12am
Also, from the few recent times we’ve been able to peek inside, we can say that construction is progressing though there is only unfinished drywall and a nice exposed brick wall to be seen. Since the liquor license hearing isn’t until July 2nd, it’ll be a couple of months before this restaurant opens!
