Gazette.net (MD Community Newspapers Online) is reporting that Carolina Kitchen owner Lance London will be opening restaurants in both Chinatown & U ST next year. Both locations will be based on the soon to be opened Hyattsville location, called The Carolina Kitchen Bar and Grill. At the 7000 square foot Hyattsville location “diners will be able to enjoy the restaurant’s signature ‘‘soul food’ and American cuisine in a new atmosphere that includes a full-service bar with a fireside lounge, waterfalls and two rooms for private events.”
The Chinatown location is said to be 2000 square feet larger than the Hyattsville location, while the U ST local comes in at an enormous 11,000 square feet.
Crime & Punishment Debuts May 9
PQ Living got the news yesterday that the National Museum of Crime and Punishment plans to open their 7th Street venue on May 9. In addition, the venue (currently under construction) will be the new location for the America’s Most Wanted (AMW) studio where studio audiences can see the show taped “en vivo.” The 1-800 phone bank (or AMW Hotline) will also relocate to 7th Street. We can only guess that for security reasons, the FBI wants to lock itself up tight as no more tours are allowed in “The Hulktress” (the Brutalist example of architecture found at 935 Pennsylvania Avenue). This museum may just fit the bill for the shorts and T-shirt wearing, camera fobbed set seeking a Federal crimes learning experience when they descend upon our fair city as the weather turns nice.

DNA Meeting Tomorrow Night At Chophouse
Tomorrow night’s Downtown Neighborhood Association (DNA) meeting will be in the District Chophouse’s Vault Room downstairs at 7 pm. Ward 6 Councilmember Tommy Wells will be the first discussion leader followed by DDOT Director Emeka C. Moneme. More details can be found on the DNA website.
St Patrick’s Day 8K
Mrs. Columbo was live on the scene this morning of the 20th running of the St. Patrick’s Day 8K. The race started at 9 am, and it looks like some of Penn Ave was shut down. Any PQ Living readers compete in this event?
Also note that St. Patrick’s day is March 15th this year, by order of the Irish Bishops, who want to avoid a conflict with Holy Week.
