We can’t claim this one for ourselves, we’re not TMZ, but we can point you to the photos. The Spice Girls performed their girl pop at the Verizon Center last night and were spotted at the Hard Rock Cafe (at 10th and E Streets, NW) as documented by this blog post.

Sightlines II: Carnegie Library to Union Station
This Sightlines post looks up and down Massachusetts Avenue from the Carnegie (or old Central Public) Library (dead center in the photo above) to Columbus Circle in front of Union Station (look for the three flags in the center of the photo below). You’ll need to zoom in to see either of them.
Looking northwest towards the Library, you get to see how the new Mass Ave Valley will look adorned with 455 Massachusetts Ave, the newly completed office building, and The Dumont now sporting its brick facade but still under construction on the right. Having two Esocoff designed buildings, 400 Mass Ave and The Dumont, don’t lend to much architectural diversity at this intersection. Looking southeast, the view is more commercial with office buildings and the Gales School [PDF] (red brick building on left behind the crane) in the near field view.
Mass Ave Valley will have some day and night pedestrian appeal because of all the new residential and office construction, the urban trail that leads to the Penn Quarter and the upcoming Safeway at CityVista and (hopefully) trees planted after finishing construction. Walking down to Union Station doesn’t seem all that interesting unless you’re heading to The Irish Times or catching the Amtrak.
We’re Starting To Take This Personally
So that FBI special didn’t work out so well. When at first they don’t succeed, the McDonald’s on E Street (next to the Artisan) just tries, tries again. Although we feel slighted that PQLiving writers & readers were once again not mentioned, maybe a few of you work for the “government” and can cash in for the rest of us.
A Cask of Amontillado
Weschler’s Auction house on E ST is looking for wine donations to be sold as part of an “instant wine cellar” for their upcoming PQ Cocktail Party & Auction (March 13th). Mrs. Columbo & I have two cases of 3 buck Chuck at home we’d be happy to part with, but I suspect they want nicer wine than that (Weschler’s, if we’re wrong about this let us know!).
I hit this event last year and the instant wine cellar was a big hit with the bidders. There were lots of other great items to bid on, and I even walked away with a winning bid.
