Top Shelf Now Penn Quarter Sports Tavern
Local sports bar Top Shelf (639 Indiana Ave NW) has changed its name to the Penn Quarter Sports Tavern. This blogger has spent a lot of time there this season watching the Bulls (until Rutgers) meteoric rise. The bar is pretty nice for the most part, decent selection of reasonably priced beers & typical bar food.
The biggest problem with the bar is the wait for draft beers if you’re upstairs. They have no taps upstairs so often when you place your order, a quarter or two of the game has passed before it arrives. That doesn’t happen much before you start drinking the bottles that they keep upstairs instead.

CityVista Begins Settlements! (Mt. Vernon Triangle)
DCMUD has the scoop: Settlements of units in CityVista’s smaller “L” building (on L St NW, between 4th & 5th) began last Friday! According to DCMUD, the “L” is 90% sold and the “K” is 40% sold. The third building, “V”, will be rental units. In addition to the flood of new neighbors, we’re also excited about the Safeway, hardware store, and Bus Boys & Poets retail.
The CityVista development will bring an additional 678 units to the Mt. Vernon Triangle area (Penn Quarter’s northern neighbor).
