Are You Ready For Some Football?
Is this the greatest time of year or what? The sun is shining, cold beer is flowing, and the bars & restaurants in the PQ (at least those with TV’s) should be packed to capacity every Sunday for the next 16-20 weeks.
Many of us will be watching the Skins season opener this afternoon, even if the Skins are an adopted team for those of us not from the area (the Bucs are this blogger’s first love). Rocket Bar & Greene Turtle seem like great spots in which to whittle away the afternoon. Rocket Bar’s basement location is great; you don’t have to feel guilty about the pretty day outside you’re missing if you can’t see the outside world, but the lack of food can be problematic by the time Sunday night football starts. Green Turtle has food and lots of TV’s, but doesn’t seem to have the fun personality of other sports bars in the city.

Shakespeare Theatre’s New Venue Opening Approaches
Today we point you to an article in WaPo on the opening of the Shakespeare Theatre’s new Sidney Harman Hall across the street from the MCI Center at 610 F Street. The hall will have an open house on Saturday, September 15 starting with a ribbon cutting at 11 am and extending throughout the day until 6 pm. This is in conjunction with the all day Penn Quarter Arts on Foot festival that takes place the same day. PQ Living will post more about both later this week so stay tuned.
