More than likely, when you need eggs or milk you probably head to CVS. This blogger, however, has two favorite places that represent an interesting dichotomy in our neighborhood.
On the fancy, high priced, presumably high quality side you have dairy fresh milk and farm fresh eggs from Cowgirl Creamery. The milk here, while expensive (almost $5 a quart, of which $1.75 is a refundable deposit for the bottle), is fantastic. If you’re a connoisseur of milk, this is the place to shop. On this milk there is a wonderful layer of fat that seals the milk beneath the cap.
Metro Formalizes Artistic Program
Metro announced their MetroPerforms! program of artists performing during the afternoon rush at various Metro station entrances around the area. Performances run from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. WaPo coverage can be found here.
Gallery Place performances will be on June 29, July 13, September 7 and September 21. Metro Center performances will be on June 18, June 25, July 10, July 31 and August 17.
Chapters Bookstore Hosts PQ Author’s Reception On Friday (445 11th St NW)
Chapters welcomes the Downtown Neighborhood Association to a reception & reading on Friday, June 15, 2007 (6:30pm wine reception and 7pm reading), with Penn Quarter’s own Therese Keane & The Stromboli Streghe: THE PEN IS MIGHTIER THAN THE BROOM.
- The Pen Is Mightier Than the Broom presents 52 personal essays, short stories, and poems by 11 women writers from the suburbs outside Washington, D.C. Grouped into nine chapters, these selections portray the vibrant lives and determined hearts of the women who reveal themselves in their writings.

Upcoming D.C. Council Hearings – June/July 2007
