RSS FeedOld Convention Center Parking Lot Construction Trailer Mystery Solved (Walt Disney Is In Town!)
Thanks to Becca for sending in this new pic of the activity at the old convention center site (approx. 11th & H St NW). We see that there is an additional trailer with a camera logo and Becca also notes that there are some food tents set up.
Everything came together when we received a notice from DDOT yesterday evening:
The D.C. Department of Transportation (DDOT), in cooperation with the D.C. Office of Motion Pictures and Television Production (OMPTD), advises motorists that Walt Disney Studios will be setting up production vehicles on both sides of Third Street, N.W., between Pennsylvania Avenue and Independence Avenue, from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2007. Travel will be restricted in both curb lanes on Third Street between Pennsylvania Avenue and Independence Avenue.
On Thursday, March 29, from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. production vehicles will be staged in the south curb lane on H Street, NW, between 15th and 17th streets and in both curb lanes on New York Avenue, NW, between 13th and 15th streets.
Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officers will be on site throughout the production.
Ok, a Walt Disney movie.. We’re trying to think of what famous celebs will be gracing our neighborhood today.

If you’re in the market for a custom made tailored suit (women’s suits too), then make an appointment to see Bespoke Tailor Raja Daswani of Raja Fashions who will once again be in DC for fittings in May & June of this year. The Post’s John Kelly wrote about Mr. Daswani back in 2004 and it appears he has suits to fit all budgets (suits $350 to $5,000).
Mr. Daswani will be in DC May 3rd to 5th, then again in June on the 13th & 14th, at the JW Marriott on 13th & Penn. You can make an appointment on the Raja Fashions website.

DC Snacks Delivers Gifford’s Ice Cream To Penn Quarter!
You have heard of DC Snacks, a service that is open from 8pm – 2 or 4am that delivers a variety of food and inedible products. Well, now the service delivers our neighborhood’s ice cream after hours, Gifford’s (10th & E St NW)!
For Penn Quarter residents that use Peapod for groceries, DC Snacks is probably another good website to bookmark.
