Arena Rotisserie (corner of 6th and G St NW) has what looks like plastic sheeting on it’s windows. The corner restaurant space has been vacant for quite awhile.
This blogger observed workers leaving the restaurant entrance on Sunday March 18, so there is definitely some kind of construction going on. We can’t find any DCRA building permits for the address, so unless the construction is very minor, it may be illegal.
But, that’s not the half of it..
While researching the “521 G St” address, we ran into more than we bargained for. We quickly discovered that the 2nd floor of the Arena Rotisserie building was a “full-service” massage parlor. And by full-service, we mean that $160 gets you the full brothel experience. The entrance to the 2nd floor can be seen in the pic (the red door on the left side of the building – with a buzzer next to the door handle).
We really really wanted to post this info on the blog last Monday, but instead we contacted MPD and let them work their magic before this info became too public. This morning, just 1 week later, MPD 1D Commander Groomes sent this message to the 1D listserv:
- I received numerous complaints on the illegal massage parlor -prostitution center – 521 G ST NW – just to let you know I forwarded this info again to Major Narcotics Section and they reported last week they did another serarch [sic] warrant and were able to arrest the female owner and seized thousands of dollars for running an illegal establishment -this is fourth time MPD has addressed this parlor — have forwarded this again to DCRA to Revoke the business license once and for all
We think a congratulations is in order for our MPD!
Ledo’s Pizza In Mt. Vernon Triangle Opening In Fall 2007!
Cheryl wrote the people at Ledo Pizza and discovered that their Mass Ave location (on the north side of Massachusetts Ave between 4th & 5th) is expected to open by Fall of 2007! Just in time to welcome the new Mt. Vernon Triangle residents expected in 2008.
Brassier Bar Opening Soon On K St NW (at 11th St) *Updated*

There is a new bar that is now hiring (through craigs list I believe, there is a sign on the window) on 11 th and K NW called Brassier Bar. It is on the corner of a building they have finally finished re-facing. Opposite the corner of the old Hertz building. They have taken the paper off the windows, white marble bar with lots of Brass. It looks nice.

New Brasserie Beck-ons
Also among that crop is the highly anticipated Brasserie Beck, chef Robert Wiedmaier’s latest venture. According to an ad on Craigslist.com (the restaurant is hiring a General Manager), the eatery will be a “traditional Belgium Brasserie” (not unlike Wiedmaier’s current domain, Marcel’s, which features the French-Belgian fare that won Wiedmaier the 2003 Chef of the Year award from the American Culinary Institute). The ad also indicates that Brasserie Beck is slated to open in April of 2007 on 11th and K, in the gentrifying-as-I-type neighborhood surrounding the new Convention Center.
