"Rocket Bar" To Open On Feb 1
The WaPo’s Going Out Gurus have more news on the new 7th St (between G & H St) pool hall. It’s from the same people who brought us Bedrock Billiards and it was previously called “Elroy’s.” Now, it has a new name: Rocket Bar. It has also announced an opening date of February 1st!
The fenced in facade of Ecco Shoes, Comfort One, and Rocket Bar featured a blue tarp for the past several weeks, but the blue tarp has recently disappeared to reveal the renovated store fronts.

How The City Of Sydney Deals With City Noise
This blogger has recently discovered how progressive some cities around the world can be when it comes to downtown residential living.
Noise disturbances in the District are very hard to deal with. The methods and laws that the city provides residents are very limited when it comes to resolving noise issues – whether they be after hour construction noise, street performers, or even barking dogs.
In contrast, the City of Sydney, Australia provides residents with a comprehensive website detailing the types of city noise and what can be done to resolve complaints. While reading the dealing with barking dogs (pdf) literature, we discovered that Sydney has a Community Justice Center that provides free mediation and conflict management services to help people resolve disputes – it boasts a 95% success rate. How cool is that?
