Mainstream media may not care much about the ANC 2C election sanity & insanity, but Life in.. and Fifth & Oh are definitely keeping area residents posted on the ANC candidate campaigns.
First off, we need to mention that the only candidate from the Gallery Place/Penn Quarter area, John Tinpe, now has a website. We’re not even bashful to say that John is our pick for 2C03 because he lives in our neighborhood and has our best interests in mind.
The juicy election madness has begun with a letter being circulated at the O St Giant grocery store. Then, Tee follows up with their take on what it all means.
All four ANC 2C Single Member Districts have only 1 challenger to the incumbent, making this year’s election very exciting for our ANC.
Downtown Holiday Market
Sean writes in to let us know that DC’s Downtown Holiday Market will be opening on Monday, December 11 and wrapping up on Friday, December 22. It will be even more convenient for Penn Quarter residents than last year as vendors will set up shop in front of the National Portrait Gallery on F Street between 7th and 8th Streets.
"Sand" In Gallery Place
Some residents may have noticed that parts of 6th St NW and F St were blocked off last night. To the untrained eye, one might think that a water main had been broken, and backhoes and dump trucks were on hand to dig up the street.
As it turns out, those dump trucks were hauling tons of sand onto the Verizon Center floor for the Washington International Horse Show that kicks off tomorrow.
WIT’s iMusical Hits Flashpoint This Week
Everyone seems to have an iPod but do they have an iMusical? The Washington Improvisational Theater will be offering up iMusical, an on-the-spot musical driven by audience suggestions, in the Mead Theatre Lab located at Flashpoint (916 G Street, NW) this Thursday (10/26) through Saturday (10/29). If it is anything like the musical segments of Who’s Line Is It Anyway? that used to run on ABC, it is bound to be a stitch.
