Can anyone clue us into why this permit was approved? I’m not against it, but hopefully “hot tubs” doesn’t refer to the Jacuzzi variety – that would be too strange.

Gallery Square And Retail Update In Gallery Place
GPLiving came across a new rendering of the planned Gallery Square (801 7th Street, NW) condominium and retail space (seen in the first pic). This space will have 4,500 – 50,000 sq. ft. of retail when completed and will replace the 24 hour CVS. GPLiving also attained more details of this building in this March 12th post.
777 6th Street, NW (AKA the BIG hole with steel tube supports on 6th) will have up to 7,677 sq. ft. of retail space available when it is completed. A rendering of 777 6th is in the 2nd pic of this post. We are amused with the foreground of this rendering.
The Union Hardware Building (709 – 711 D Street, NW) is still looking for a tenant.

Smithsonian American Art & Portrait Gallery Courtyard Cover Takes Shape
Spot the bright curved shape in this pic and you’ve found the beginnings of the museum’s courtyard roof designed by renowned architect Norman Foster.
- The new enclosed Robert and Arlene Kogod Courtyard, designed by renowned architect Norman Foster of Foster and Partners, will provide a dynamic year-round public gathering space that will accommodate a variety of functions. Internationally acclaimed landscape designer Kathryn Gustafson of Gustafson Guthrie Nichol Ltd. has been selected to create the interior design. This major new space will be one of the largest public event spaces in the city. The enclosed courtyard is expected to be complete in mid-2007, approximately one year after the museums re-open to the public. (Source)
