Those 7th Street retail spaces across from the Hotel Monaco can count one less empty window. BodySmith Gym will take up residence at 575 7th Street and open its doors in July. It strikes GP Living that it will have many of the same features that Vida Fitness has also. The first gym to open in the Penn Quarter was the Washington Sports Club in Gallery Place. A little competition is always healthy but do we need three gyms in two blocks?

The Touchstone Gallery at 406 7th Street, 2nd floor, will be having an opening reception for the new works of Steve Alderton on Friday, May 12 from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Alderton’s recent paintings fit into one of two series: “interiors” or “exteriors”. He developed the organizational idea for the two series while working in the studio of Jan Olsson, an American artist working in Paris. Tell them that GP Living sent you !

The Old Convention Center Site: Master Plan Alternatives for a New Downtown Neighborhood
Hines|Archstone-Smith and the DC Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development announce the second community design workshop to solicit input into the master planning for the District’s Old Convention Center Site.
Design development has continued since the initial community design workshop held in November 2005. Development team members will update workshop participants on the continuing evolution of the master plan.
