The DC Comedy Fest is here and playing at various venues, including Gallery Place’s FalshPoint Theater and Warehouse Theater.

Shows for Friday and Saturday night start at 7pm and last until at least midnight. A nightly pass costs $15 and is good for admission to any venue at any time that night – a great deal! Passes can be purchased after 6pm at these venues: Warehouse, HR 57, Flashpoint & The Comedy Spot.
Gallery Place Farmer’s Market Report
GPLiving stopped by the Penn Quarter/Gallery Place Farmer’s Market yesterday to pick up some super-fresh goods. There was lots of fresh lettuce (good luck finding that in a DC grocery store!), flowers, meats, fruits, vegetables, cheeses, and Zipcars – they had a display at either end of the market. A couple of things we could not find yesterday: tomatoes and milk. But, I’m guessing tomatoes are not exactly in season right now?
GPLiving also attended the last 2 minutes of the Dumont opening party at Jaleo and wondered if we stepped into a realtor’s convention. All of the tables had been put away and people were still drinking their wine like it was 1999. I’m guessing there wasn’t much in the way of food – maybe some hors d’oeuvres. No starting prices were revealed for the condos – they only took appointments.

The Hunt For Free Food in Gallery Place
GPLiving has noticed that all of the new condo projects planned for Mt. Vernon Triangle seem to like having their selling parties at Gallery Place area restaurants. GPLiving notes that Yale Steam Laundry had a party at Zengo a couple of weeks ago. Well, another condo project called Dumont is having their party tonight at Jaleo. This is probably no news to Gallery Place residents because the Dumont construction site has a huge J-A-L-E-O sign posted on its fence.
But, this brings up an interesting point. There are times and places to receive free food in Gallery Place. With respect to happy hours, Ella’s pizza offers free pizza from 5pm-7pm at the bar. Does anyone know of other restaurants/events that offer free food in Gallery Place?
Gallery Place Metro Station and Advertisements
The Washington Post has been covering the excitement related to tunnel advertisements on the Metro. There are two different tunnel ads on the Red line between Metro Center & Gallery Place and Gallery Place & Judiciary Square (both while traveling in direction of Glenmont). GPLiving has yet to see one of these ads, despite traveling between these stops daily.. This is probably due to the habitual “staring at the floor” most riders adopt while riding in the tunnels. Until now, it just wasn’t normal to stare out the window into the darkness of the tunnel unless you want to look at the reflections of people in your window. Again, creepy behavior.
The second part of the Washington Post article states that the Gallery Place Station will be one of the likely recipients of the much hyped “electronic message boards” posted outside of the station. Metro officials hope to have the message boards in place by September.
