Gpliving received copies of some documents presented at yesterday’s Historic Preservation Review Board meeting regarding 801 7th St.
Here is an excerpt: Riverdale International, with architects Cunningham + Quill and preservation architects Oehrlein & Associates, return to the Board for review of a revised conceptual design for a proposed mixed-use residential and retail project at the corner of 7th and H Streets in the Chinatown section of the Downtown Historic District. The proposed project is a 10-story residential tower combined with rehabilitation of historic buildings and facades.

Hip Cuts Coming to Gallery Place
GPliving has learned from an inside source that a very hip salon is branching out to our neighborhood! The salon will share space with the MCI Center, and will be located on the F Street side (formerly home to The Discovery Store?). This news is not confirmed, but we’ll give you a hint- the business partners intend to continue the salon-in-gym format…

Legal Drama At An End in Gallery Place?
If you hadn’t noticed, there was a 1 foot gap between two buildings in Gallery Place. The gap is between the new office building at 616 H St and its neighbor, Chinatown Garden at 618 H St. Also, you may have noticed that the office building has been, for the most part, empty during the past year. Gpliving got word that there is/was a legal dispute between the two property owners about property lines. This resulted in an empty office building and the ugly 1 foot gap between the two buildings.
The dispute may have come to an end, but Gpliving’s lawyer connections only go so far! Do any readers have more details?
Workers were spotted this past weekend plugging up the hole and it appears that the 616 office building is showing signs of life.
