Executive Director Richard Reyes-Gavilan of the DC Public LibraryThe architects who are designing the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library’s transformation have provided renderings of what the spaces will look and feel like after construction is complete and furnishings, books, tools, and computers are all in place. While showing these images, Richard will talk about the changes, what to anticipate, and how this will be a very different library than it is today. We will also hear of their plans for providing library services for the Penn Quarter neighborhood while the changes to the building are underway. When the transformation, which goes beyond the physical changes, is completed, the city’s central library and our neighborhood library will rival the best in the country.
Please respond if you plan on attending this meeting as it will help our host prepare.
RSVP via email by noon Monday, November 30 to Jo-Ann[at]PennQuarter.org

Foodie Radar: The Dabney

We recently had the tremendous pleasure of dining at the brand new, much-anticipated restaurant, The Dabney (122 Blagden Alley, NW). DC area native, Jeremiah Langhorne, the former Chef de Cuisine at James Beard award-winning McCrady’s in Charleston, maintains his passion for local sourcing with a menu highlighting local, seasonal and even foraged ingredients. Currently on the menu that we wish we could eat every day, the Buttermilk Biscuit with Foie Gras, the Whistle Pig Grilled Pork with Butternut Squash, and the Peanut Butter Cake with Celery Ice Cream. The ambiance, like the food, is refined rustic with Southern influences. A favorite gathering spot on warm nights will be the urban “front porch” featuring a courting bench. Be sure to make your reservations soon, this is going to be the “hot” table in town!
