New Neighborhood Productivity Business cove Is Open (829 7th St NW)
The newest business to open on 7th Street is cove (829 7th St NW) which bills itself as a neighborhood productivity space. Membership includes high speed Wi-Fi, no cost printing and scanning, unlimited coffee, plentiful power outlets, community events, and most importantly comfortable space to work. Think of it as a coffee shop-like, members only space with printing, conference space, and community added in as a part of the package. The Chinatown location is one of 9 DC area cove locations and members can use any location as a part of their membership fee which ranges from $59 per month to $249 per month depending on the desired privileges.
The 7th Street location covers two floors making up just over 1,400 square feet with 32 group and individual desks, a lounge section, two call boxes, one six-seat conference room, and an additional 900 square feet of event space. This address has a history of hosting startups in DC including the first one we walked by in Penn Quarter/Chinatown back in 2008 called The Map Network.
The 7th Street cove will be hosting an open house on Tuesday Wednesday, November 18 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. No advance RSVP is needed and neighbors are invited to stop by to visit the space.
Foodie Radar: Masseria
Last night, we finally had the chance to eat at Masseria (1340 4th St., NE), the new Chef’s tasting menu restaurant by Chef Nicholas Stefanelli (formerly at PQ favorite, Bibiana). The ambiance is a carefully curated mix of industrial chic, vintage and hipster. The urban garden is going to be a favorite retreat on warm nights. We sampled 8 dishes in total, probably about 1/3 of the menu. Apparently, there are no bad decisions to be made on this menu. From the tripe and lobster to agnolotti to veal cheek, every bite was meticulously designed and absolutely scrumptious. We have no doubt Masseria will like be named Best New Restaurant, so go now before it’s even more impossible to book!
In addition to an absolutely impeccable dinner, the cocktail is broad and interesting. Our recommendation, “I Left My Wallet In Montreal.” The charred bay leaf adds a fantastic touch to this rye whiskey drink.

5A Dulles Airport Bus To/From L’Enfant Plaza Remains In Service
The 5A Metrobus [PDF] direct to and from Dulles International Airport (IAD) is one of Penn Quarter’s best kept secrets and it will stay in service having been pulled back from the brink by WMATA. We’ve walked to/from this bus from Penn Quarter to conveniently access long distance flights out of Washington DC all for the very reasonable sum of $7 ($3.50 for seniors and those with disabilities). The 5A stop on D St SW between 6th and 7th Streets is a 1 mile walk from 7th and H St NW (or take a Green/Yellow train or 70/74 bus).
This is easily one of the best transportation deals in Washington DC as taking a cab or Uber to Dulles is at least a $60 fare. If you take the Silver Line it means a long train ride and switching to a connector bus. The 5A takes you and your luggage from L’Enfant Plaza direct to the front door of Dulles Airport in 50 minutes. The end-to-end schedule for the service is from 4:45 am to 12:19 am on weekdays, 5:30 am to 12:24 am on Saturdays, and 5:30 am to 12:27 am on Sundays.
Until the Silver Line goes all the way to Dulles Airport, now scheduled for completion as late as 2020 (!), we would like to see this bus stay in service.
