RSS Feed"Rocket Bar" To Open On Feb 1
The WaPo’s Going Out Gurus have more news on the new 7th St (between G & H St) pool hall. It’s from the same people who brought us Bedrock Billiards and it was previously called “Elroy’s.” Now, it has a new name: Rocket Bar. It has also announced an opening date of February 1st!
The fenced in facade of Ecco Shoes, Comfort One, and Rocket Bar featured a blue tarp for the past several weeks, but the blue tarp has recently disappeared to reveal the renovated store fronts.

I hope this place isnt crazy expensive like the bowling alley. I was so excited about that but i never go because it costs an arm & a leg.
Does anyone know when the Portrait Gallery will finally take down their fence/wall at G St and give 7th street back to the public?
I have had it with the Portrait Gallery taking up our sidewalks, too, but it looks to be another year (Q4 of 2007 at the earliest) before we get them back. Making it over eight years that we can’t walk on the west side of 7th Street.
Couldn’t they keep the sidewalk blocked off on one of the three sides of the building that doesn’t see an insane amount of foot traffic? (I guess F Street is now partially closed too, ever since the reopening.)
I’ve never understood why DC allows construction companies to close off sidewalks, when NYC has buildings 80 stories tall that were constructed without closing a single sidewalk. Being without a car and loving my walkable life, this is one of my big DC pet peeves (obviously).

Awesome. Thats a much better name than Elroys for what its worth.
Anyone know the status of the new bar inside Gallery Place? I’ve since liquor license applications but nothing else.
