Sound off: What Gallery Place Living Needs
We’ve been brainstorming some ideas to enhance the Gallery Place Living blog and we want your feedback!
Ideas:
Remember trying to find Burma restaurant for the first time? We’d create a block-by-block directory or map of Gallery Place shops, stores, and museums
How much is parking? Most of the time, Gallery Place residents instruct guests to just park in the garage below their condo. But, did you know that one can park in a certain lot all day on Sunday for just $5? We’d take photos of every parking garage “rate sign” and post it on a map.
This one would require a lot of community help. We’d maintain a community calendar that lists ongoing and upcoming events at every Gallery Place/Penn Quarter venue.
Does anyone have other ideas? GPLiving is also an expert at creating Google Map Mash-ups, so any ideas involving Google Maps would be easy to create.

I ditto above, and I would go for your first suggestion of new additions to the blog. Keep up the good work guys
You are all doing an incredible job, thanks.
I would like to see the police records, and maybe map out where the problems are (maybe color code by type of crime). This is the kind of database mapping police departments use to assign resources – and I think we should all band together to keep pressure on the police to maintain a presence.
A community calendar would be awesome, including schedule for the Verizon Center in addition to the great local stuff.
A map of zipcar spots would be interesting.
I would like a list of local resources that help the homeless – because I think our neighborhood needs a systematic way to help the homeless who are drawn like magents to our neighborhood. Those of us who live in the neighborhoods have big hearts and want to get people on their feet, but too many of the homeless drawn to our streets are addicts and/or have serious mental problems.
HOw about a profile of new businesses in the neigborood – interview the owners of the new businesses (dry cleaners, restaurants, gyms, etc..). We should know each other by name and create a neighborhood feel. The businessperson would get some PR and we would get to know more about what they are offering.
Sorry for the ramble….
PARKING! PARKING! Oh, yes, please, parking! Seriously, that would be an awesome, awesome addition to this blog.
My building’s garage is a public one and so my driving guests, if they want to park there, have to pay by the hour ($12 for 2 hrs, a flat higher fee when there’s an event at the MCI Center, which is frequently). I would love to know about alternatives.
Thanks for this blog – it’s super-useful!
hmmmm… I think a happy hour mash-up might be fun and informative. Especially if it could be organized by day of the week. I’d be willing to forward HH schedules to GPLiving, if desired.
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
How about a list of places that deliver food to GP/PQ?
