They Should Advertise Milk And Eggs Instead
Is the one hour photo a draw to anyone anymore? Maybe so. The convenience of one hour photo might be helpful when you’re out running numerous errands that can end with your picking up your prints. So assuming some people do still care about one hour photo, do any of them actually use CVS?
In some DC Neighborhoods CVS may be the best option, but in the PQ with both Penn Camera and Ritz Camera available for prints (places that specialize in photos) why would you choose CVS? We can’t remember the last time we saw the CVS camera cash register line being used for anything other than regular drugstore checkout.
But this is no rant against CVS. We like them for what they offer us: quick access to some food items, cold remedies, magazines, Rx, etc. We just can’t imagine using them for our photographic needs.

With online options as well that can mail you pictures within 3 days, I can’t imagine this being profitable for CVS – with tourists or without.
profitable or not, it’s a service that CVS still needs to provide to appeal to a wide base of customers and bring them into their stores. a shrinking share still use film and 1 hour is as close to digital as real film can get.
Yup, tourist LOVE getting their photos developed (and shared) immediately. Then they buy yet another disposable camera. Let us be glad that they are spending their money in our city.
Yes, the Ritz Camera store on 11th between E and Penn has a sign that it is closing.
As I shelled out $22 for Ritz to process two rolls of film, my thoughts immediately went to CVS and whether they still did processing.
They can’t advertise milk and eggs because either their cooler is broken and the milk is warm or they are out of eggs. The CVS at 10th and L had the milk coolers broken for more than a week!
