RSS FeedWaPo: Clyde’s Taking Over At 14th and F St NW
The Washington Post reported that the Borders at 14th and F St NW, formerly housing hometown retailer Garfinckels, will become a Clyde’s restaurant in 2011. The bookstore and media industries are undergoing significant change and while there was talk that TJ Maxx might have taken over the space from Borders, it looks like it will become a comfort food emporium with the additional twists of sushi, a raw bar, and live music. This Clyde’s opens up another dining option for visitors, tourists and the business lunch/dinner crowd as there are few residential buildings near that intersection but we are always happy to walk a few extra blocks to try a new place to down Wellfleets and a glass of Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc.

Hmmm. Will Clydes cannibalize there business at Gallery Place by adding another restaurant seven blocks away?
So now there are two Clydes, Old Ebbitts, M&S Grill, and a McCormick and Schmicks within walking distance of each other. Doesn’t that seem like overkill for any restaurant serving upscale American fare?
