Washington Improv Theater At Flashpoint In Gallery Place
We thought we’d profile the Washington Improv Theater because when Mark, Artistic Director of the WIT, emailed us, we were embarrassed to find out that we had overlooked linking to a collection of theater troupes in our own neighborhood! (The WIT link is now on the sidebar)
Also, we did catch a show at Flashpoint (916 G St) last weekend and can easily say that for $8 – $12, one can have a very entertaining evening and support the neighborhood arts at one time!
- WIT is DC’s premier improv theater company, playing since 1998, with a regular company of over 20 players producing over 100 performances a year right here at the Mead Theatre Lab in Flashpoint, where we are a resident organization in the arts incubator program. Every WIT show is pure spontaneity, mixed with playfulness and a healthy bit of subversion—a refreshing alternative to the great, but heavier, theater you can see at Woolly and Shakespeare.
Though we don’t (yet!) have our very own performance space, Flashpoint is our home for the last two years. We have an established following but we’re always trying to find new audience members and students. Thus, we would be delighted if you might list us among your theater links. For your readers who are walloped by their mortgage and condo fees, we’re also a nice cheap night out (tickets are $12 and $8).
We are currently in production, with shows every Friday and Saturday at 8pm and 9:30pm through July 1.
Also, Mark has offered to host a WIT show as a social opportunity for blog constituents. WIT would designate a night as Gallery Place residents night and tailor the performance to our group.

That sounds like a good idea. I would be interested in meeting others who blog on this site.
