Cherry Blossoms? Nope. Sidewalk Ads.
Ed. Note: Residing north of Massachusetts Avenue, we wish to introduce MVT Resident as a joint writer of this post.
What’s good for selling Globetrotters tickets isn’t necessarily a good thing for selling real estate. We’ve seen the vinyl ad trick around the Penn Quarter before and we guess that with a not so hot housing [...]
Zola Wine?
One of those pretty pink alcohol notices caught our eye next door to Bruegger’s Bagel Shop. The listing reads that the company applying is 505 9th W LLC, but it’s operating under the trade name of Zola Wine. The nature of operation is listed as “Wine store, transfer from safekeeping to a new location.” 505 [...]
Kogod Courtyard Declared “New” Wonder Of The World
CondeNast Traveler lists seven “new” wonders of the world and our very own Kogod Courtyard at the American Art Museum hits the list. Who keeps Kogod company? The New Museum (of Contemporary Art) in New York and the Burj Dubai in the United Arab Emirates to name a few.
New Seven Wonders of the World [CondeNast [...]

Bruegger’s Set To Open Soon!
We got an inside look at the new Bruegger’s Bagel Shop going in at 505 E 9th ST. One of the construction workers (foreman?) told us the shop was set to open on Friday, April 4th. We want to believe him, if he was pulling our leg wouldn’t he have said April 1st?
Nats Prez Plays PQ Resident For A Day
Stan Kasten, president of the Washington Nationals baseball team, was seen last Wednesday riding the Metro. He was promoting mass transit as a way to get to the baseball game for this upcoming season.
What’s interesting is that the trek started at the Gallery Place station and went to the Navy Yard station. Kasten [...]
Hollywood, Downtown DC Style
Anyone walking by the old convention center parking lot (now called ‘Center City Parking‘) will have seen semi trucks like this one that makes “Ridiculously Wide Turns” forming DC’s own temporary Hollywood home base. Walking to Brasserie Beck for dinner this weekend, pqresident spotted a mobile gym (much like The Muscle Truck) and multiple RVs [...]
You Write The Caption: Lonely Bentley
There are many one liners we could have used as a caption for this Bentley Continental Flying Spur we found parked one weekend in the massive parking lot behind the Chester Arthur Building at 425 Eye Street, NW. It seemed, well, just a little out of place and lonely with no other cars nearby to [...]
5th And Eye Receives Seven Proposals
DC received seven, count ‘em, seven different proposals from development companies for developing the half acre lot at the corner of 5th and Eye Streets, NW. According to the press release:
The various proposals for the site include boutique and high-end hotels, restaurants, spas fitness clubs, cafes and coffee shops, jazz clubs and live entertainment venues. [...]
Wayback III: Washington Monument Back In The Day
It’s hard to believe that this is what the Washington Monument looked like for over 20 years but around 1856 construction on the Monument effectively stopped and didn’t resume until 1879; this photo was taken in 1860. The cornerstone was laid in 1848 and the capstone in 1884. Why did construction stop? The simple answer [...]
