Motophoto Announces Closure (400 7th St NW)
Via the PQNA mailing list, Motophoto will be closing effective January 31st.
The owner sent this message: Rather than just vanish in the night, we have decided to have a Motophoto Goodbye Party. From Tuesday, January 22nd through Saturday, January 26th we will have a celebration of our time in the Penn Quarter. We will have some light refreshments Friday and Saturday. Please come for good conversation, and, best of all, some good deals.
Motophoto has been a long time resident of Penn Quarter at 7th & D St. They will be missed!

Our neighborhood needs a variety of small businesses. I hope whatever goes into that space isn’t more of the same of what we already have….fast food franchises and expensive (although quite good) restaurants.
Oh no! They always have had the best selection of stickers anywhere – stickers are hard to find these days except for at the Container Store.
Good luck. I doubt small businesses can afford the insane lease prices. Or the lack of business to sustain reasonable open hours like Potato Valley during the week and COSI on the weekends. I don’t see much below E street other than tumbleweeds moving in. Unless another museum can come and save the day.
Believe me, I wish it were different.I would love to see a 24/7 Harris Teeter open up in the old proposed Balducii’s place. That would bring in much needed traffic to the area. And size? The new HT in Shirlington isn’t huge by any means and they jam pack in tons of stuff and is 24/7.
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Does anyone know what will be replacing it?
