1791DC Opened And Piano Bar Gets Name/Logo: "proof"
We have belated news from the corner of 8th and G St NW. The 1791DC deli opened on August 2nd. As we suspected, the hours of the deli are 7am-4pm, Mon-Fri. Just for the office crowd! Also, just around the corner, we see a newer sign for the piano bar, “proof,” that will be opening in the spring of 2007. At least residents will be able to enjoy the piano bar when it opens next year.

There are two cafes at the portrait gallery. The outdoor cafe on the south side even serves beer and wine. Also, speaking on new places, it looks like the Johnny’s Half Shell by Union Station is almost finished.
I am very excited for the piano bar! I think it is just the type of place that can add more charm to our neighborhood.
I think it is dissappointing that developers or the city allows permits for restaurants in the neighborhood that are not open for non-office hours. I am sure I am being naive. Maybe these places will start to extend hours if they can make more money; I hope they make some sort of effort to be part of the community. A place like 1789 could sweep up big bucks servicing late night diner fare.
Where is this piano bar stuff coming from?? The sign says “wine – centric restaurant serving modern American cuisine.”
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
1791 would do well to extend their hours to the weekend especially as there is no food or drink at the Portriat Gallery.
