Retail Update In Gallery Place/Penn Quarter

Maisha writes in to let us know that a cafe/deli is under construction on the corner of 8th and G St (in the Portrait office building). It seems to be more for the office lunch crowd, but we won’t know until it opens!

Cowgirl Creamery (919 F St) is set to open in a matter of days. Thanks to Jason for the look-out on this! Read Express also reported this info.

700 6th St. looks like it’s getting ready for construction. The parking lot is closed and a new constuction fence has been erected. This will be an office building and it looks like no retail is planned for the first floor.

700 6th seems to be a ‘stand-alone’ office building. It’s being built by Akridge (same people who built Gallery Place), but judging by the artist’s rendering, it doesn’t seem to be following the same look as the rest of the Gallery Place Complex. The only tie-in we can see is that part of the office building will be built over the parking garage entrance of the Gallery Place complex. They will probably add elevator access in the garage – but that’s just speculation on our part.
