Franklin School Redevelopment Work Stopped (13th and K St NW)
We were disappointed to read this news about how the Franklin School rehab project has been halted by the DC government. The building is undergoing renovation and transformation into the permanent home of Planet Word’s linguistic museum. It would seem obvious that major details such as tin ceilings and wainscoting are historic elements of an interior or at least prominent enough that the lead developer would pause and ask. We’ve followed Franklin School since it was a homeless shelter. Its historic value to the city is without doubt and we hope that this project gets back on track.
