Gallery Place Experiences Signage-Switch
The MCI Center was officially renamed to the Verizon Center today last week. All of the labels on the glass doors have been changed to Verizon Center. One thing we’re unsure of is if the Chinese characters will change in the sign – but the orange lettering doesn’t really go with a black and red sign.

I think it was “officially renamed” today, but that cheezy sign was up last week.
Couldn’t they come up with something a little better than that square of particle board tacked on to the tower?
Lame.
I’m going to call the V-Center. No matter what nickname I try to give it, it still sounds so lame.
Hey GPL- any word on when a new grocery store is comin’ to the area? I saw a Balducci’s is opening soon. Any others? I live at 7th and H and a grocery store would be great. Nothing like Stouffer’s frozen food from CVS.
That pathetic little Verizon sign at the top of the marquee is certainly underwhelming. Here’s hoping it’s temporary!!
Anon,
Balducci’s at E & 7th is the only grocery store I see opening in the near term (this spring).
There are two other grocery stores in the near vicinity opening up in 2 or 3 years. One is a Safeway in the CityVista development at L St and 5th NW. The other is a planned Harris Teeter at H St and 3rd NE.
One interesting fact I found out about the Balducci’s is that it will have an area to seat 40 people.
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
That sign pictured was on the Verizon Center early last week, it was not installed today.
Hopefully it’s only temporary. It’s kind of weak in my opinion.
