McDonald’s Moves Back Into 911 E St (Building Permit Update)

Posted by gpliving
December 5, 2006

We were informed some time ago that McDonald’s and Wendy’s used to occupy the storefronts across from the Hoover building on E St. We were also told in vague terms that these two restaurants were expected to re-occupy their spaces once the new Artisan Condominium was completed. So, here we go:

11/30/06
911 E ST NW ALTERATION AND REPAI
$260,000.00
INTERIOR ALTERATION ON PART OF 1ST FLOOR AND MEZZANINE
MCDONALD’S

Not having fresh Frosty (TM) creamy desserts is a travesty. They balance the SPICY chicken sandwich to perfection.

Guess I’ll have to stick with the Chicken Selects.

If it’s wrong to be excited about a McDonald’s, I don’t want to be right!

Hopefully they can put a real restaurant in the 915 space of the Artisan:

seems like if they were selling/leasing one of the spaces, one of the restaurants (presumably wendy’s) wasn’t planning on returning. with waffle shop’s impending demise, would love a diner or something similar there.

looking at that PDF it looks like there is room for only one restaurant… so wouldn’t that be McDonalds?

Comment by Anonymous on December 6, 2006 @ 8:52 pm

There is actually a space they don’t show on the PDF. It is to the right of the garage. That is where the McDonald’s is going. If you look at the picture of the future building on the PDF, you can lightly see the McDonald’s name above the doors on the right of the garage.

in response to anonymous comment: “it can attract a bad element”…..do you mean all the obese people who eat McDonalds too often?

maybe DC will learn from NY and ban trans fat too:

good, soon mick donalds will have wireless internet and it will be an establishment where you WON’T have to spend 17.95 per person.

Good catch on the pdf… Glad to see McDonalds will be in the small space to the right of the garage, and not the big and beautiful space to the left.

I love McDonalds fries. As long as they keep it clean, I think it’s fine. However, given the status of the McDonalds in the Verizon Center, that may be a problem.

I just walked by the Artisan, and the space next door has a liquor license application posted for a Thai restaurant with “occasional” DJ or live music.

Great…more unhealthy food….more late night drunkenness…more homeless people…and nothing to offer of value…let’s all give a hand to McDonalds, whoopee! Great use of space people…..are we surrounded by idiots!!! Where is the city planning? Other cities (and many parts of this city) have planning boards that use INTELLIGENCE and COMMON SENSE to know that a WEALTHY neighborhood does not need nor does it want ANY McDonalds, and certainly not TWO. If you disagree with me…go late night to the Verizon Center’s McDonalds, see the trash, the homeless, the smell, the disgust…and often times the crime, that results…not to mention not adding much to the look, wealth, or health of the community. Quite frankly these places should be closed as nuisances…and no I’m not a veg head…I’m an ex football player who loves grease…but honestly people, we here do not need another McDonalds and a permit should not have been given…oh well, who said anyone in power in this neighborhood had an IQ over 10…I certainly didn’t. It has actually gotten quite easy to predict what will happen in this neighborhood. Just ask yourself, “what should happen” then expect the exact opposite.
