Cedar To Open On Monday?
Unnamed sources (ok, it was Mrs Columbo) overheard a conversation on the street in front of Cedar (822 E St NW) late last week about their opening plans. According to what she heard there would be a soft opening Friday (last Friday, May 8th) and then they would open to the public on Monday, May 11th.
We were not in PQ Friday night; did anyone notice activity at Cedar to indicate a soft opening? Assuming they do open Monday, do any of our readers plan to attend their opening night?

The new name? Chapters Literary Arts Center & Bookstore. The new space? One of the retail spots in the mixed use 601 Pennsylvania Avenue NW building (see photo above). Multi-Space Parking Meters Go Live (Old Meters Disappear)

Today, we noticed that the old parking meters on the 800 block of 7th St NW have been removed. You can still see the spot where they used to live, filled in with some gray material. Time to figure out how to use those shiny new multi-space meters! Oh, and the street parking rates have been doubled as of a few weeks ago (from $1/hour to $2/hour). A few months ago, we took note that the multi-space meters were being installed.
