Inauguration ’09: On Your Mark…
DC Government Puts Up Inauguration Website
The DC Government now has an Inauguration Day 2009 website running so that you can stay up on the latest information about the planning surrounding President-Elect Obama’s January 20 inauguration. The site has one page devoted to old inauguration photos, two of which are of floats asking for voting rights for DC residents. Now that we can vote, how about some full representation in Congress?
Obama’s Washington Is…The Penn Quarter?
According to Marketwatch, the President-Elect’s administration eats at The Source, the man himself works out at the Gallery Place Washington Sports Club and inspires art at the Downtown Holiday Market. Who would have known?
Balducci’s Really, Really NOT Coming To PQ, Really!
Thanks to PQL reader, Rend, for sending us a link to this Washington City Paper article regarding discussions with Balducci’s coming to Penn Quarter.
The news is all but official. Despite efforts by the City and Douglas Development to make a lease attractive to Balducci’s, the grocer will not be moving into the space on 7th between D & E St NW. While Jemal declares the talks over, Balducci’s CEO, Barbara Parasco, sends a canned statement to the City Paper: “our policy as a company is not to comment on speculation or rumors.”
One starts to wonder if Balducci’s was ever serious about moving into the neighborhood.
