This is a short reminder that the 2nd Annual Downtown Neighborhood Survey period ends in one week on December 26. This survey is a joint effort among the Downtown Business Downtown Neighborhood Association (DNA), The Downtowner newspaper, the Penn Quarter Neighborhood Association and the Downtown Business Improvement District (BID) with the intent of getting a better grip on the needs, wants and realities of doing business and living in downtown Washington, DC. Does The Devil Also Carry Prada?
It appears that tough times are hitting even the luxury bag market. We spotted this sign on a Metro Center kiosk advertising Prada bags for just $5. How many of you will be picking one of these up for the fashionista in your life as the perfect stocking stuffer? The last time we wrote about a sidewalk bag vendor the comments took us to task for drawing attention to knock-off sales; given the current economic crisis is that still the majority opinion?
Tangysweet & Red Velvet Opening This Thursday! (Soft Opening Today?) *Updated*
Thanks to PQL reader, Cheryl, for sending in a tip that Tangysweet & Red Velvet are opening this Thursday, Dec 18th! The store is located on the northeast corner of 7th & E St NW (675 E St NW). It will feature a full juice bar and hours will be according to foot traffic (probably noon – 11pm).
The store is supposed to have a soft opening, so it possibly opened as early as yesterday. Please report in if you see it open!
Update: We walked by this morning and saw the same cupcakes in the window that Andy In PQ mentioned in the comments section. The store did not look like it would be opening today.
