Dining With Your Dog In The PQ
Anyone who walks regularly around the neighborhood knows that there is an ever growing canine population in the PQ. The walks are great but it is also nice to relax with your pooch and visit with friends at an outdoor café after a long evening walk. So slowly but surely, I’ve started a list of PQ restaurants that allow pets at the outdoor tables. Please feel free to add to this list and remember to always ask the restaurant or call ahead before marching pooch in.
Busboys and Poets (5th and K) – completely dog friendly patio (half the tables had very well-behaved pets under them the last time I hung out there – the most dogs I’ve seen at one time at a PQ restaurant)
Teaism – Dogs allowed at the outdoor tables if you can get one.
Poste – Allows dogs on the lower level where the couches are but not on the higher outdoor patio. Wait staff is extremely dog friendly and eager to bring out a bowl of water.
Jaleo – No problem with dogs at outdoor tables and the linear setup along the sidewalk works well with the other patrons.
Oyamel – Allows dogs at the outer tables adjacent to the sidewalk.
701 – Mixed results; sometimes dog friendly, sometimes resistant. But it is a great place to dine with the pet at an outer table when the outdoor area is not crowded. The other patrons never noticed my dog was around.
Kanlaya – Dog friendly
Lee Loo – Dog friendly
There are a few daytime outdoor dining days left as fall gets into full swing…any readers with information on Proof, Zaytinya, D’Acqua, Café Atlantico or the Austin Grill?
This Space Reserved For . . Construction Workers?
Some may have noticed the fence sitting on 7th St in front of the former CVS building on the NE corner of 7th & H St. The fence seems to move onto the sidewalk and out into the street depending on what type of work is being done on the buildings in front of it.
At first, the fence was used to block off the sidewalk as workers demolished the facade of the old seafood restaurant next to the CVS building. This action forced pedestrians at one of the busiest sidewalks in DC out into the traffic lane of 7th St.
Demolition seems to have been completed, but now the fence has been moved all the way out into the street, blocking off the parking lane for a good 4 car lengths. While this frees up the sidewalk once again for pedestrian traffic, it now results in permanent reserved parking for construction workers!
Photo Of The Week: 1199 F At Night
We’ve watched 1199 F Street NW transform itself from the home of Tequila Beach and Polly Esther’s (between [F]unky and [G]roovy Streets) to a bunch of rubble to a hole in the ground to a construction site to the shell of a 185,000 square foot office building. We couldn’t resist stopping one night and getting a photo of what will be a very cool six story atrium.
Photo note: We did have to stitch a few pics together to get the tall aspect of the building into a single pic.

Muse Lounge Opening Soon?
According to DC Nites, a website dedicated to DC’s nightlife, the Muse Nightclub & Lounge (717 6th St NW) is supposed to open November 1. Muse has a web site up and running also but no opening date is listed there. They’re reconfiguring the space formerly used by the RnR Lounge and Coyote Ugly and The Rock (if you remember that far back).
