The Power Of Hoodoo
Growing up in the South you would sometimes see bottle trees. While these may not have been there to ward off evil spirts, they were nicer front yard decorations than the cars on blocks many of my neighbors had.
So I felt a little nostalgia when I noticed that there is a gum tree in front of Ford’s Theatre. According to web searching this gum tree is fairly well known, as for years patrons have put there gum there before going in for a show.
I can’t be the only one not to have known about this, right? Sure it’s no bottle tree, but I guess it’s better than having the tour buses up on blocks.

Asia 9 (Or Nine) Impressions
We’ve hit Asia 9 (or Asia Nine) at 915 E Street, NW, (below The Artisan condo) several times now over the last month or two since they opened and overall, we like it. The place looks nice inside (well finished), the front bar is great (extra wide!), and the back sushi bar is big and roomy (a little darker, get-to-know-ya). Prices at Asia 9 are reasonable, but we had high hopes for a more adventurous menu. We wanted to see less of the Thai staples that so many other Asian restaurants serve (I’m looking at you green curry chicken and almost every noodle dish). Read on to hear more…and plug in your own comments. Continue Reading >>
