Two new restaurant style lounges are now open downtown and if readers have the straight scoop on either, leave a comment and let us know.
- Geisha Lounge (727 15th Street, NW) – Part sushi bar, part lounge according to the web site. On 15th Street, Geisha can be found between New York Ave and H Street up from the Old Ebbitt Grill and Department of the Treasury in what used to be Washington’s Financial District (it still has a historic designation as such [PDF]).
- The Park at 14th (920 14th Street, NW) – A four level restaurant with areas set aside for private events and/or lounging – all levels look eastward out at Franklin Square Park. Brought to you by the same guy who managed Club Zei (now a vacant space for rent) and The Fifth Column (now called Platinum Club – also downtown), stalwarts on the DC dance club scene from the ’80s to the very early ’00s.

Rumor Mill: 10th & G Church Development No Longer Residential
Rumors are abuzz about the 10th & G St NW Soup Kitchen/Church/Luxury Condo development headed by PN Hoffman. Word is that the developer has decided that office space would be more suitable for the site than condominiums.
We dug some more on the zoning of 945 G St, NW (Square 375, Lot 823) and found that DC’s Zoning Regulations require that there be some amount of retail space on the ground floor – something that is missing from the current plans. If PN Hoffman had proceeded with a residential structure, they would have been exempt from the requirement. Zoning Regulations, Chapter 17, Section 1703.3(c) states: “(c) This ground floor use requirement shall not apply to a building that is devoted entirely to hotel or apartment house use or to a church or other place of worship.”
Will the developer apply for a zoning change or will DC’s Zoning Commission let another one slip through the cracks?

Mia Gemma Jewelry Store Opening In December!
We reported in October that a new jewelry store was planned to open at 975 F St NW between 9th & 10th St. We strolled past that location and were greeted with a sign announcing that it will be opening in December!
Macy’s Holiday Display Pics
