Peruvian Connection, a 31-year-old Kansas-based catalog company, signed a lease Oct. 2 to open its first retail shop in D.C. at 950 F St. NW in the Atlantic Building, which is owned by Douglas Development Corp. Peruvian Connection has four outlet stores, including one in Perryville, Md.
You Say You Want To Rent A Movie?
A few weeks ago this blogger was complaining to pqresident about the lack of a video rental store in the neighborhood. Not having cable means one can blow through their Netflix movies faster than USPS can deliver them. And while the “watch now” selection is growing, sometimes you need a backup. Well maybe this blogger was the last to know, but pqresident sent me over to Olsson’s and what do you know? They have a DVD rental section!
The selection is about what you’d expected from a place like Olsson’s, heavy on the Criterion Collection for those of you who need your perfectly restored DVDs with behind the scenes commentary. They also had a few stinkers, but for the most part it was a good selection, reasonably cheap rates, and decent rental periods.
The public library has some DVD rentals, but it’s pretty slim pickings there. Are there other video (or video game) rental stores in PQ that this blogger should know about?
Oyamel Now Sports Outdoor Dining (401 7th St NW – pic)
In early August, we reported that Oyamel was going to open an outdoor seating area. As readers can see above, indeed they have. The outdoor area runs for a short span along the quieter, less travelled D Street; no outdoor seating is available on 7th Street.
“That’s Hot!” Says Food & Wine Mag
Normally we hear Paris Hilton saying “That’s hot!” but in this case it was Food & Wine magazine’s November 2007 issue pointing out these hottie culinary outlets in downtown DC:

The section’s sidebar declares the PQ to be a “Hot Neighborhood” and tacks on mentions for:
