The July 27, 2006 meeting of the Historic Preservation Review Board has this following application scheduled:
- The Harrison (the Canterbury), 704 3rd Street, NW, HPA #06-xxx, revised concept/subdivision and construction of adjacent twelve-story building
This building is a beautiful 5-story Victorian apartment building called “The Harrison.” We haven’t been able to dig up much historical info on the building, but it has been boarded up for at least the past year.
We wonder how the 12-story office building will be integrated into the apt building. There is some space behind the turret part of the building on G St.

More Bar Louie Details In Gallery Place
We reported earlier that a Bar Louie would be moving into the 701 7th St NW location (Gallery Place complex).
The Washington Business Journal now reports on more details about the new bar. Two pieces of info:
- It’s expected to open Sept. 1.
- Restaurants America is looking at a space on Pennsylvania Avenue to open a Bluepoint Fish Club by the end of September

It’s Official: Balducci’s Is Reconsidering Penn Quarter Plans
This story is a little too hot to wait until tomorrow, so here is an evening update from GPLiving.
The Washington Business Journal reports that Balducci’s may revive plans for Penn Quarter store (7th St NW between D and E streets). GPLiving just wants to say “hi” to Erin Killian at the Business Journal for writing all of the stories dealing with Gallery Place.

Mysterious Artwork & Reynolds Center (Smithsonian American Art & Portrait Gallery) Sets Record: 18,744 Visitors
According to the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s blog, the July 1st attendance set a record for opening day attendance at a Smithsonian museum with 18,744 visitors! Congrats!
