No Block Left Untouched: HPRB Notice For 704 3rd Street, NW
The July 27, 2006 meeting of the Historic Preservation Review Board has this following application scheduled:
- The Harrison (the Canterbury), 704 3rd Street, NW, HPA #06-xxx, revised concept/subdivision and construction of adjacent twelve-story building
This building is a beautiful 5-story Victorian apartment building called “The Harrison.” We haven’t been able to dig up much historical info on the building, but it has been boarded up for at least the past year.
We wonder how the 12-story office building will be integrated into the apt building. There is some space behind the turret part of the building on G St.

right now it smells like urine and a squatters heaven. at least when you park over there and walk by. i say tear it down sooner rather than later.
Yeah there’s still a street sign in front of it that reads:
“Hotel Parking 15 Minutes” in front of an empty lot. People finally figured out they can just park there since well there’s no hotel.
The window coverings look pretty secure and I happened to notice that the coverings are rented out. I was wondering how long the owner was willing to pay for that.
I wonder how they’re going to fit a 12-story office building next to Mass Court. I always heard that the abandoned building was going to become condos.
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Did that building with the “demolished” text over it used to be a hotel?
