Shimba Hills Coffee Shop Opening This Week
The folks at Metrocurean inform us that the Shimba Hills Coffee shop will open this week in Gallery Place. You may have noticed the “coming soon signs” on the bus shelter approximately under the jumbotron of the Verizon center. The Washington Post also has a story.

Vida and Bang Buzz Party Report
Last Wednesday, GPLiving attended a “buzz” party at Vida Fitness & Bang Salon’s future location at 7th and F Streets. The party featured tours amongst the raw innards of the former Discovery Zone. Floorplan posters gave insight into how the space will be designed. The salon will reside on much of the first floor with an “oasis” waiting area. The fitness center will have at least 2 infinite pools – short lap pools with a slow moving current, so you never run out of space to swim. Combined with countless exercise machines and a great view of 7th and F St, including the Portrait Gallery and American Art Museum, will make this a fun place to work out and/or get a haircut.
Billiards in Gallery Place!
Sam sends us word that at the last ANC2C meeting, the following item was on the agenda: Liquor License Application for Bedrock Billiards: Applicant seeks Commission approval for a stipulated ABC license for a billiard parlor to be located on the lower level of a building on the west side of the 700 block of 7th Street, NW, in Chinatown.
